THE MULLER HOSPITAL  |  A hopital design in the city of MANGALORE.

The MULLER HOSPITAL was a live project given to us by the Father Muller Medical College. We had to design a 100 bedded hospital with all facilities emergency wards, out-patient departments, radiology department, operation theatres, blood bank, physiotherapy department, morgue and the in-patient departments. Apart from these, other support spaces like the kitchen, dining, services area, cafeteria, etc. also were planned.

The design started with multiple concepts of different forms, but I later understood that "form follows function" is the key to design the best hospital. I stuck on to the master plan and came up with a proper functional plan without any negative corner spaces, then I connected the spaces at different levels and made it a vertically circulated building. The central open core is lit with ample amount of natural light from all directions and the building is completely naturally ventilated with mechanical wooden louvers in the direction of the wind.
